Well, Garmin would be the only place to get the map updates. If you can find nav's that are cheaper than the map updates, and from a reliable seller, then get the new nav, but it's weird that the updates cost more.

Rather than spoon feed you the answer, I will furnish the section in the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) that answers your "question". You need to LEARN this information, not just the correct answer to some a"quiz".!!

You might need a new transducer. I had a similar problem with my unit earlier this year (it would only read 2.1 to 2.2′). After sending it in to the company for repairs, it was determined that the transducer was bad. And, after installing a new transducer, it works fine.
